  1. Not just the thyroid absorbs radioactive isotopes. Bones and some other organs are very susceptible as well depending on the isotope. That can cause the body itself to be radioactive. Even if one has been thoroughly decontaminated externally. I have no idea how radioactive one could become in that way in terms of being a danger to others though.
