  1. It doesn't need to be a "right." When proprietary information is involved, they need to have a licensing program where they provide the information and tools needed to do repairs under a contract that prohibits the owner from passing on said info/tools to non licensed individuals. People can hate on corporations all they want, but intelectual property rights need to exist. If anyone can just steal an idea, people will be less motivated to invest the time, effort, and money needed to develop them. Competition drives technological progress.

  5. Rehab centers etc. are expensive to operate (and not always effective), so trying to get them off drugs isn't practical but you still have to find a way to fight disease outbreaks. Clean needle programs are a relatively cheap way of doing that. It's probably not the best alternative but it's cost / effectiveness ratio makes it worth the effort.
