  2. Great analysis, thank you! I used to work in the flooring industry and discovered that many architects had no clue that carpet comes 12 or 15 ft wide. Had no clue how carpet is being seamed together (butt seam, angle seam, and so on) and that some types of carpets don't seam well. Similarly, many homes had huge family rooms in the basement (I live in Michigan) with no way of bringing large furniture down there.

  7.  @aayotechnology  If you design a room that is 12 ft 3 inches wide it's not the decorator's choice. Designing huge master bedrooms on the second floor and having the narrowest stairs allowed with some sharp turns... so no armoire or a large dresser could go up. I also moved people for a while )) That basement story - it was a poor stairs execution, under the main stairs with some sharp turns once again.
