  10.  @soyoltoi  Krauss is simply referring to the fact that we can derive ALL of modern physics from a few rather trivial (and empirically well confirmed) assumptions. One of them is that at the fundamental level spacetime is completely empty. That is what the relativity principle says, after all: there is no material background. The world is, indeed, structured as if it was made of absolutely nothing.

  14. Even in a universe that is suitable for life we are just a chance byproduct. The mass ratio between the mass of the sun and the mass of the biomass on Earth is 1e15 or so. Life is, most likely, only an afterthought in the entire universe. Probably no more than one part in 1e16 to 1e20 or so (that's just my own rough range estimate). Intelligent life... oh, boy... 1 in 1e30 or worse?

  18. Let me give you a theological pointer: to god laying down 6, 66, 666, 6 million or 6 trillion varves would be the same. If anything, 6 million is a very, very small number for an infinite being, which to me is indication that they were not made by a god, at all. ;-)
