  1. Classical? Not particularly useful because they are using too much energy compared to electronic machines and light doesn't scale all that well. The wavelength of visible light is already much larger than the feature size of silicon. For quantum computers... don't know. It might become a viable technology with the never integrated optics and better optical materials. With macroscopic lenses and mirrors... probably not.
