That sounds like someone is begging for the cookie. :-)

No.

@cpymo Mostly because the holographic universe idea is bullshit. It is an offspring of string theory that actually seems to make a physical prediction that is testable, a kind of gravitational background noise that deforms light waves... and that prediction is wrong by many orders of magnitude. There is skepticism about the derivation of that predication as well as some of the experiments/observations that have been performed in that direction, but either way it's obvious that either the string theory folks don't know what they are doing and/or nature doesn't give a frell about the whole thing. I suspect the latter.

@cpymo Physicist. But why in the world does the universe depend on what I am? You aren't making any sense here. Either I am right or I am wrong about nature, but either outcome would be completely independent of my field of study. :-)

@cpymo You asked a question ("Are these questions valid?") and I gave you an honest answer. You wanted me to elaborate and I elaborated. Then you asked me what my profession is and I gave you another honest answer. Why in the world do you feel sorry for yourself, right now?

@cpymo Why in the world do you feel sorry for yourself, right now?
1
@cpymo Sorry, but I honestly don't care right now.
1
@cpymo Still not giving a frell about your frail psyche.
1
@cpymo Now you are just clingy.
1
@cpymo That you are clingy is a fact.

@cpymo I type less. :-)

They don't. Thick holograms are only required if the surface can't store spectral information (e.g. in the form of color film), then a thick hologram can emulate that ability even if it is "only" a 3d black and white crystal.

So do most people who aren't named Susskind.

Translucent objects can not be perfectly imaged with light to begin with. This doesn't matter so much in the optical (where it only leads to some optical illusions), but it's a major problem for things like computer tomography where reconstruction artifacts can not be perfectly avoided.
