Today she was trying very hard to make an appeal to the New Age crowd. This ain't science, folks. This is just total bullshit. There are many successful theoretical models that produce amazingly complex emergence from perfectly smooth initial conditions using locally smooth dynamics.

Quanta are small amounts of energy that are irreversibly added to or removed from a system using the smallest possible value of angular momentum and charge change.

My computer is way smarter. It only takes two. ;-)

I am sure you can give us the relevant citations? ;-)

Most people aren't educated and they don't have the slightest interest in getting educated.

We have mathematical tools that analyze systems by scale (Fourier spectra, for instance, and correlation functions). Many complex physical systems do not generate one specific scale, though. They tend to develop a power law spectrum similar to colored noise. That has a lot of nasty mathematical consequences (it makes these systems really hard to predict, for one thing). When a certain scale develops (e.g. the size of animals), it's very often because the system runs into some kind of hard limit. A well known biological example is mammals that need to breathe and remove excess heat, both of which get harder as the size of the organism increases, until both get so hard that no further growth is possible. A well know physical example is the growth restriction on accretion disks of stars, black holes etc.. As these gravitating bodies swallow matter they create a very hot gas halo. The radiation pressure from that halo pushes new gas that is falling in back out, thereby limiting the growth rate of the object to the so called Eddington limit.

@SMMore-bf4yi Science is the rational description of nature. It has nothing to do with engineering applications of scientific principles like reforestation. The people involved are not the same, the goals are not the same and the modus operandi is not the same. In engineering (even in ecological engineering) there are only three laws: 1) Make it work. 2) Make it work on time. 3) Make it work on budget. Totally different mindset. If you want to plant a forest, you worry about cost/tree. If you explore the biology of a forest you worry about root density and beetles that bore into tree bark.

You are correct, but try to make a video about that and see how much love you will get from the algorithm. ;-)

Yes, that is total bullshit. Nature does not compute anything, on any level.
