  4.  @throckwoddle  Even electric aviation is conceivable, although it may take a century before it becomes commonplace for long distance flight. Producing enough synthetic fuels for aviation and other uses won't be a problem since we have to oversize solar farms by 50-100% anyway to compensate for seasons.

  8. Hydrogen can be stored... in form of synthetic hydrocarbons. We will take some of the excess energy of wind and solar and make chemicals with it that can burned in e.g. jet engines. It will be a few percent solution.
