There will never be a need to terraform Mars. Transhumans simply won't need an atmosphere anymore.

They thought about that. It's probably too expensive in terms of energy, unless there are some very large comets in the outer solar system where tiny momentum changes could be enough to bring such an object on a collision course with Mars.

Mars has gravity and minerals. It has a landscape that one might call home. A rotating cylinder in space is hardly a comparison to solid dirt under your feet. In any case, the entire idea that man moves into space in large numbers is pretty ridiculous. Transhumans are the species that can conquer space easily. When gravity, time, air, food and water have become obsolete and hard radiation is like a light rain shower, that's when space becomes a place to live in. When motion can be accomplished at the speed of light by copying oneself from one avatar to another, that's when the solar system becomes a playground. There is a hard way into space... that's what we are doing right now and there is the right way into space. Transhumans will take that road.

Ah, somebody has limited attention disorder. The claw catches the first stage on Earth (maybe, technologies at SpaceX tend to change rapidly). The orbital stage that is also the Mars spacecraft has landing legs.

Why do we need to breathe, at all? Batteries already work for cars and power drills and all kinds of other stuff. In the future they will work for us, too. You guys really lack vision.
