You are mistaking North and South Korea. ;-)

That's very hard to see. There are plenty of Korean cars on American roads... and basically not a single Chinese made model. This is hardly going to change anytime soon. China doesn't have what it takes to take over major markets that are not toasters. ;-)

There are no viable consumers in North Korea. North Korea is a third world country suffering from famine. It would be a major economic drag on South Korea for decades to come. We have lessons from the German reunification which was economically much less of a problem because of the relatively smaller population size of East Germany.

China is already sputtering. It has failed to utilize the few young people that it has left and its leadership is betting on industries that are at the end of their useful life.

@ILIVEAGOODLIFE A country doesn't get rich from its mineral deposits these days. Look at Russia, which is second world, at best. Reunification won't happen for another century on the Korean peninsula. China needs NK as a nuclear bargaining chip.

That is just as true for all other Asian countries. The cultural differences to the West are very hard to bridge. One has to be extremely devoted to Asian lifestyle to find living in China, Korea or Japan comfortable. I am not even saying that this is somehow "wrong". There is no need for a completely homogenous world population with the same five brands that populate American malls. Cultural differences do have a right to exist, but they are representing hurdles when it comes to immigration.

If you want to buy a good flat screen tv, you will have to buy it from Korea. China can't keep up.
