  1. Because they never ran out of water to begin with. They ran out of electricity to pump the water. They also didn't have enough firefighting equipment. You need to think before you speak. :-)

  5. I am sure you will find plenty of dead people who tried the same and failed. He was lucky. Others weren't, but they can't tell you anymore that they are regretting their "free thinking".

  6. Nothing stops you from becoming a firefighter. Then you could prove that you are "the man". But then... "bigmouth" was always your favorite career choice since high school, wasn't it? It's so much easier to talk than to do. ;-)
