  1. We aren't just looking for Earthlike planets. We are looking for all kinds of planets. The second potential habitat, icy moons with inner oceans, will be very hard to find outside of the solar system and even if we find them, there is no chance to test them for life remotely. That can not even be done within the solar system. We will have to go there and drill into the ice until we reach the ocean.

  4. There were no rational expectations to find earth-like planets with current equipment. We need better observatories for that.
