  1. The economics of a self-driving cab is not as good as at sounds. First of all, you have to buy it. If it cost's $30k and you are making 30 cents a mile (which is kind of what Elon seems to be promising here), that means it has to drive around for at least 100,000 miles before it even amortizes itself. Now, what happens if that thing causes a pedestrian fatality? Then you are in for a very expensive bill and you will most likely go to jail. Is that really worth it? Please note that a cab operator does not have that problem because his cab driver goes to jail instead. I believe Elon forgot to tell you these little "problems" with the business model.
