  4.  @rejected4760  It's not about the area here. It's most likely about distance to targets. At the outer end of this incursion a HIMARS can reach Moscow's air defense systems. If the Russians let Ukraine advance just a little further, it will be able to reach all the way into Moscow. And I bet with you there are some even beefier targets somewhere along that line. ;-)
