  1. Maybe, but most likely not. There is no reason to believe that the notion of "field" is not an emergent property itself, i.e. what underlies reality does not have to be a field, it could be merely something that creates an approximation of fields. We know that exact symmetry is, also most likely, not a property of nature. Symmetry is fragile. It seems to have a tendency to break. It might be possible to prove mathematically that any non-trivial physical situation (i.e. something that allows for a minimal amount of self-interaction) that starts with a perfect symmetry automatically degenerates into an effective one without.

  5. We do have females in physics. One of the smartest people I have ever met in my life was Persis S. Drell. Sabine doesn't measure up to her. She couldn't even reach the knees of that lady. ;-)

  6. Was der Dozent gemeint hat ist das intelligente Leute die viel Arbeit in the physics hineinstecken diese als schoen empfinden koennen. Dass heisst nicht dass Du das nachempfinden kannst (einfach weil Du nicht genug Arbeit reingesteckt hast).
