There is no debate about that. A world with one billion people living happy, healthy lives would be far better than what we are having now.

I can see lots of applications in physics and chemistry, but those are for nerds and not for normal people.

There is no solution to the problem. People don't want children. End of story.

Did you come up with that crazy on your own or did you hear it from Trump? ;-)

That's what they said about the ICE car. Shortly after that horse meat became very, very affordable. ;-)

The birth rates across the entire world are falling below the level required to sustain the population. It's not just Asia. There are more than enough people in the world. It's not a problem.

Common sense. ;-)

There is none, except maybe that both are being hyped to death.

The Blues Brothers were wearing sunglasses at night while driving! Now that is cool. At least in the movies it is.

Well, they didn't have to pay Matt Damon...

Isn't that what China wanted? The attention of the world? Now all eyes are on it and the show ain't pretty.
1
Is that the best script China can come up with, right now? ;-)

Why would it be easier for Apple to make a profit with a car than for anybody else? Just because they are a brand? That never worked.

Giving it a purpose is the easiest thing of all. The problem is that it will mostly be the wrong purpose.

That's yuan, not dollars. That would be like the quarterly revenue of Apple, wouldn't it? The real problem is that China owns a $130trillion real estate problem that will be like Japan's for decades to come: ball and chains on the feet of its economy.

@zacksmith5963 What have you been drinking? Yak droppings distillate? ;-)
1
@zacksmith5963 OK Jack, every time I say jump, you jump. Jump! ;-)
1
@zacksmith5963 Jump! Jump! Jump! :-)

Except that the US economy is doing fine. It keeps growing at a steady 2-3%, which is what you can expect from a mature economy. China is not mature and has not managed to stay on the course that would be required for it to become one. Too many people at the bottom are left out and now they have lost their last generation of youth as well.

@zacksmith5963 Where do you get your drugs from, kid? ;-)
1
You mean they are spending more money than SpaceX? OK...

It's not broken out by Korean descent, but by ethnicity Asian Americans have the lowest birth rate of all ethnicities. Hispanics are still highest, but even that number is falling. It's probably more correlated with income and education than with ethnicity. Rich people have on average fewer children than poor people.

EVs are growing faster than any other car category. There is no "limited enthusiasm". There is no need for any "enthusiasm" at all. EVs are being adopted in the same way as flat screen tvs were. Unless you can show me where I can buy a black and white tv with a CRT nowadays? How about an AM radio that uses vacuum tubes? These are technologically obsolete products and so is the ICE car. ;-)

@lopypop YouTube is entertainment. It has about as much realism to it as Tony Stark's flying suit. ;-)

@lopypop J.K. Rowling is a very well known creator. Does that make "Harry Potter" a biography? ;-)
