  3. If you can't service credit card debt, then don't use credit cards. What's the problem here? 4-6% is on the low end of historic interest rates. Almost all human economic activity is more risky than that. The last decade of low interest rates is an indicator that US monetary policy was not keeping up with the world economy. Now, you can argue that the US should not be providing the dollar as an exchange quantity for the entire world economy because that causes a really strong correlation between domestic US policies and the world economy in total. I will agree with that, OTOH, it is a major financial income source for the US. The only possible replacement for the US dollar would be at least two to three million legal immigrants a year and even then we would be increasing the total dollar money flow like crazy because of the job creation for these immigrants.
