  6.  @mcnt9506  One does not have to be rich to have a successful business. Plenty of non-rich people are running small businesses. They are repairing cars, installing windows or fixing teeth. My dentist is certainly not rich by any means but he has been running his small office for over twenty years with the same employees. They are a happy little family.

You paid good money for that risk, too. ;-) Now, if you should turn out not to be the greatest fool, then the IRS comes in and confiscates 20% of your winnings. This makes the stock market a simple negative sum redistribution game with guaranteed 20% loss. ;-)

  9. Huh? You have clearly never been in a board room. The omnipresent lawyer will constantly point out which laws and regulations have to be paid attention to. There are very few corporations these days that are not trying to be kitchen clean in the way they do business. The consequences are just too severe. Not only that, but it's much easier and much cheaper to abide by the law than to circumvent it. So, no, the idea that corporations are successful because they know how to skirt the law is completely wrong. Corporations love regulations. Why? Because they make the barrier of entry for new startups very high. It is much easier to work with the law within an established operation than it is to achieve compliance with the law from scratch in a newly set up entity. That is a competitive advantage, not a disadvantage. Only amateurs think otherwise.

  10. Dude, if you don't want to work for less than twenty bucks an hour, then learn something that is worth more than twenty bucks an hour. What a concept! Now, I can tell you that in the medical industry plenty of professionals are raking in $500 to $1500 per hour, but those folks are typically lawyers, doctors or PhDs with decades of experience. Do you know what that means? It means that they didn't just pay attention in high school while you were smoking weed but they put in 24/7 for four to eight years in university and then worked their way up in the hierarchies of their law firms, medical departments and research facilities year after year after year, rain or shine. You don't just get these jobs for being a slouch. You get them because you worked for them. Some people do, that is. There are ten times as many people who are just as smart and who put in just as much work and who don't manage to move up the food chain, for whatever reason (bad timing, poor job choices, personality, bad bosses etc.). Those are the real losers. You are just an average complainer who didn't even get into the game.

One should, however, not mistake one for the other because screwing with something that is not broken will not fix something else that is.
