It was all on tv, you just didn't pay any attention to it. :-)

@YannickIgten We don't have AC systems and solar panels? On what planet is that? Venus? ;-) Seriously, there is no problem here as far as human habitability is concerned. What will happen, of course, is that the arid and semi-arid areas will be moving North very quickly. We will lose large parts of the European and North American forests. We will have to change our agricultural methods in addition to use less water, which will mean more production under foil and in greenhouses. Solar architecture offers perfectly viable solutions that can grow more produce on smaller land areas with less water while producing endless amounts of energy. It could be done today, if necessary.

@YannickIgten It would be better if none of this became necessary, of course. I am not saying that technology is a panacea. We will have to change our ways, but that's normal. It's a far smaller change than during the 19th century when we replaced human labor on fields with machines, anyway. And cities... well, some will innovate to provide shade and cooling and others will become unpleasant hellholes. Ask your city to start planting some really tall trees from the African Savanah... you children will be thankful.

What about "hottest in recorded history" did you not understand just now? :-)

By adjusting to the climate. Well insulated attics and AC systems do most of the heavy lifting. If you have to be outside... put on a cooling vest and you will be perfectly comfortable. :-)

@slifer0081 Cooling vests don't take vacation days. You can use them every day, all day. ;-)

It probably is. We will simply adapt to it.

@YannickIgten We do know "how the Earth reacts to heat". Some 25,000 years ago Europe was covered in ice. The ice melted and within a few thousand years giant forests were moving across the continent from the South all the way to the polar regions. 2500 years ago North Africa was a great zone for agriculture that supplied much of Rome's staples... but productivity declined towards the end of the Empire and caused Roman city populations to abandon poorly supplied cities when the regular shipments of cheap grains seized. The aridification of Europe will continue with forest and agriculture retreating to ever higher latitudes. Sweden and Norway will become climatically preferred countries and living in the South of Europe will become close to unbearable in summer.

@xScooterAZx People are dying in a lot of stupid, preventable ways (would you like an Oakland, Paradise or Lahaina with that?). Amazon will gladly sell a cooling west to you if you need to work outside in high heat conditions... I have one. It works just fine. ;-)
1
@YannickIgten I am always right. Get used to it. ;-)
1
@xScooterAZx Just older and wiser. I made all the mistakes in the book, already, and invented a few new ones, too. ;-) Trust me, if you ever manage to grow up and to grow old in addition, you won't suffer fools any longer, either. ;-)
1
@xScooterAZx Why are you telling me that you are hopeless, then? ;-)
1
@xScooterAZx If you are 69 and still no wiser, then you are hopeless. ;-)
