What difference would it have made? If you know how to have a successful partnership, then you can have one with or without a document and if you don't, well, then you will mess up your life anyway.

Einstein's problem isn't that he didn't get the ensemble right. His problem was that he never stopped believing that there should be a man behind the ensemble curtain. That there isn't follows trivially from the special theory of relativity, but Einstein didn't see that (neither did his contemporaries). Sean Carroll is simply too full of himself. He will never understand quantum mechanics because that would require him to think outside of his tiny box. ;-)

What's spooky about a tiny bit of energy? Are you spooked by a kWh on your electricity bill? If not, then why does a fraction of it upset you? A kWh of energy happens to be roughly 16mol of visible (green) photons. What in the world is spooky about that?

Technically both are true. Our sphere of influence is contracting. Eventually every local observer will be sitting in a very empty universe with nowhere to go.
