  1. It's called the universe. It would have been better if physicists had not adopted the multiverse terminology but instead had called it something like a "multi-domain universe". That is both mathematically and scientifically far more accurate. Personally I like the term "foliation" but it happens to be used already for a very different kind of phenomenon. At the end of the day, though, what's in a name? A rose by any other name smells just as sweet.

  2. Technically both are true. Our sphere of influence is contracting. Eventually every local observer will be sitting in a very empty universe with nowhere to go.
