  4. The rent in Tier 1 cities is not low (Shanghai rents are easily $2000-3000 for good flats, which is basically above GDP per capita for China on average) and income for most people in lesser desirable areas of China is extremely low. So, no, living in China is not cheap for most.

  10. GDP in China is approx. $13,000 per capita. In the US it's 86,000. China will not overtake the US in the relevant metric in the 21st century and it's unlikely that it will last to the 22nd in its current form.

  14. The Chinese don't need more labor. Obsolete sectors like construction are being kept alive artificially exactly because they have too much labor and don't know what to do with it.

  15. Hopefully as many years as this nonsense has been going on. He should have said that this was going on for 20-30 years. I have seen ghost cities with my own eyes ten years ago. They are not a myth.
