  1. Xenonfastfall When it comes to amphibious operations the U.S. was. Look up this thing called the U.S. Marines, a whole branch of the military dedicated to amphibious warfare and its numerous amphibious operations before the Second World War particularly the Banana Wars.

  2. Xenonfastfall You didn't say European theater, you said "USA and experience don't work in a sentence". No other context was provided. If responding to the OP's comment it is still equally wrong because, again, the U.S. had lots of experience with amphibious operations before World War 2 (hence why I said look up the Banana Wars) so just because they did not happen in the European theater of operation does not all of a sudden make them amateurs.

  5. Even if they were successful, it would not have knocked the Western Allies out of the war. A setback yes but not the end. Not only were the Allies on different fronts like Italy and the Eastern Front pushing back the Germans but the Allies had near limitless resources to continue fighting whereas the Germans were on borrowed time. If the Germans managed to push to Antwerp the Allies would have regrouped and kicked the Germans out again. They were slowly bleeding themselves of resources to continue fighting with no one to supply them except maybe Sweden with very little if anything at all. Everywhere else was cut off unlike the Allies who still had access to the vast amount of resources in America and Britain's colonies especially Canada.
