  1. Mental health as well. So many veterans. My Uncle chose cigarettes over every shelter we found for him. He slept on the beach. Then somehow ended up in Colorado. He was mugged, lost an EYE, had no permanent address, so he was given nothing for the pain. My phone rang on Thanksgiving of 2017. He bought heroin on the street, and overdosed in a hotel. I miss him every day. There are surely stories like ours.
