@olgag6581 Ukraine is a sovereign nation. They can do whatever they want with defining their official language. People can speak private each language they want. Just excuses for an imperialistic attack. What do you think would happen if a region in Russia want to become independant? Putin would be there with soldiers and tanks next day and kill all opposition leaders...that is the difference. Why do all soviet block states fear Russia and dont want to become vasall states again. why is all opposition in Russia in exil, dead, in prison? Just think about it. Who is hypocritical and biased? The law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in April 2019 on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language does not prohibit the use of any language in private communication. The document regulates the use of Ukrainian as the only state language “in the exercise of powers by state authorities and local self-government bodies, as well as in other public spheres of public life” (Article 1, paragraph 7). The law on the state language does not explicitly regulate the areas of religious rites and private communication - this is set out in a separate paragraph in Article 2 of the law. Therefore, Lavrov's statements about an alleged ban on “speaking Russian in one's own kitchen” are a fabrication. Moreover, the Russian language is not mentioned in the law at all, nor is it placed in a separate category - reference is made exclusively to the state language of Ukraine. There are no “bans” on the Russian language in other laws and regulations of Ukraine.
