Tewari, then a Lieutenant Colonel commanding the Signal Regiment of the 4 Corps, was with the 7th Brigade in the Namka Chu sector, described how the local people helped Indian army, they were asked to carry radios for the army, they pour out all the liquid in the battery to reduce the weight, and purposely threw the heavy equipment into the deep valley which cannot be recovered at all, so this communication major General needed to take a helicopter flight back to Tezpur to get the liquid for the battery and tight the bottles up to his body to get back to the front
