we should be clear, that to get into the moon orbit Chandrayaan 2 needs NASA's deep space program for accurate entry. however for landing, it totally depends on the lander itself, by accurately measuring and controlling the distance between the lander and the moon surface, clearly, the lander failed in this aspect.

@Ross Martinez III you just make me laugh. do you know that most of India's space program (Mars and this time the moon) need the support from NASA's deep space network?? but they do not say that. India only has 1 ground station. do you know the earth is turning all the time? compare to China, inside China, we have 6, and also 1 in Africa, and with several ocean communication ships around the globe, for China's moon landing mission, total 14 stations all from China.

@kumarankush8615 in space program, what matters is the payload of the rocket, not how many small potatoes or eggs you can put into space your most powerful rocket GSLV MKIII with 640 tons can only put 4 tons into space, compare to China's LM 3B, with only 450 tons, can put 11.5 tons into space. LM 5 can put 25 tons LEO and 14 tons GSO.

@kumarankush8615 it crashed, not matter how close, it is useless. China has soft landed on the moon twice, Change 3 and Change 4, now Change4 is still working on the dark side of the moon after 9 months.
