As she said, the most important thing is to create jobs in India. For this, the budget will allocate $24 billion, which is great news. But how many jobs does India actually need? According to Harvard Business Review, currently, out of the total working-age population of 950 million Indians, half are employed, and half of those employed are family helpers, most of whom work without pay. So, half of 950 million is 475 million, and half of 475 million is 237.5 million. Compared to China's 740 million employed individuals, it is reasonable for India to aim for a similar number of jobs. This means India should aim to add about 500 million jobs. If we assume it costs $20,000 to create one job, then creating 500 million jobs would require about $10 trillion.
