One reason for India to get the mess is India trusted US too much (almost like a God), the result is India lost $3 billion Indian tax payers hard earned money in AFG, wasted investment in Chabahar port (even it is in Iran, that is mainly for AFG also, due to US sanction to Iran, India dares not import oil from Iran), from history, US just left, such as in Vietnam, now India is in quad, will US sacrifices itself for India? certainly not.
