China put efforts into SCS only after Xi took the power after 2013, China did not have enough strength to do much in there, for over 200 islands in SCS, China only has 7, most them were built by filing small rocks in the ocean, only a few sq km each, how can they interrupt shipping in SCS which is 3.5 million sq km??? Why not a single ASEAN country complained China blocked their shipping in SCS? no much oil or gas reserves in there either, or JP or US would have had in there in 1970s to 1980s at that time China was not able to do anything in there. all these claims from US are just BS.

As a quad member, India joined Russia and China military drill to fire live shoot into Japan which is another quad member, and as in the US "democracy" group, India disobey US on sanction to Russia but keep buying Russian oil to send money to Russia to beat the sht out of Ukraine, another member of US "democracy"group, what a hypocrite.
