As a result, the wealth gap in India is now much greater than during colonial times. The country's development and growth primarily benefit the richest segments of society. Currently, the top 1% of Indians own 40% of the country's wealth, while the top 10% control 77%. In contrast, the bottom 90% share only the remaining 23% of India's wealth.

@camber460 Most Indians do not realize how harmful of BJP/Modi's policy on relying the richest like Adani and Ambani, not only they are focus on their own interests not on India and made huge gap between rich and poor in India, it also affected India economy, since for developing India needs huge foreign investment and involvement , however, the foreign investment and setup factories will surely affect the interests of Adanis and Ambanis, then for protecting their interests, India government used all kinds of restrictions to foreign companies, the results are more foreign companies are moving out of India then those moving in into India,

Another harmful point huge gap between rich and poor is the 90% of poor with no money to spend, since India's trade is always in deficit contribute nothing to GDP growth, so it depends on internal consumption, however, 90% of India has no extra money besides eating spends, so no consumption either, no consumption, no growth
