Meiteis think they are Hindus and backed up by BJP, Meiteis are valley people, the surrounding mountains are the homes of others, the understanding and law prohibit Meiteis to get land in the mountains, however, the population density is too high, with about 600 people per sq km, compare to the people in the mountains with about 59 per sq km, now with the support of BJP, and Manipur's BJP CM, Meiteis now moving into the mountains, that is why the people in this video showed they will use guns to protect their land from Meiteis grab their land , since Meiteis with the support of BJP, this situation will not end anytime soon

  3. the total population of Manipur in 1951 was only 5,77,635, of which, 0.5 % was urban and 99.5% was rural. assume all 0.5% all urban population in Imphal valley all are Meitei, that is only about 3000 people in the city and assume with the same ratio, 280,000 Meitei, in the whole valley, they had all the best part, of course they did not care about Kukis in the mountains, and promised not to take their land, that is just fine. that means peace, now Meitei grow to about 1.8 million in the valley in Manipur , so they feel they do not have enough land, so they want to expand to the mountain to get tribe land, well, that is not your land.

Meiteis from the past, they occupied the best part of Manipur, Imphal valley, with flat land and rivers, and kicked all others to the surrounding mountains, to call them as tribe people, and trying to show they have mercy to them by promising them Meiteis would not expand to the mountains,with the time Meiteis population grow, and the valley getting more and more crowded,so now they try to move onto mountains which they promised and by law they should not, since they think they are the true Hindus, the mountain people are foreigner from Myanmar, so they do not have right to have mountains, the mountain people, Kuki people, now stand up with arms to protect them land, they home, their properties to be grabbed by Meities which got back up by BJP

  9.  @ryu126  the problem is Meitei occupied the best part of Manipur, the Imphal valley, at the time, they were with few people, no need for them go to mountains, so Kukis were treated as tribe people got protected, with the law which forbidden others to get into their land, that is the history, nobody deny the right of Meitei in the valley, the problem is with the population growth, now Meitei trying to get land in the mountains, that is the key for this violent situation. Meitei certainly can pass a law forbidden others to buy land in the valley, however, they have no right to get land in the mountain,
