Casualties in the Donbas and Luhansk war, both military and civilian deaths, were about evenly divided between the Russian backed separatists and Ukrainian loyalists. If Putin hadn't invaded no one would have died.

  8.  @technigeneric  Yanukovych abandoned his position and ran back to Mother Russia with his stolen millions. There was no coup. Russian separatists attacked Ukrainian loyalists in Odesa. Both sides were throwing Molotov cocktails in the Union building stand-off. Some Ukrainian loyalists attempted to help the people trapped in the building.
