CO2 levels have gone from 280 ppm to 420 ppm in the Industrial Era due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions. That's an increase of fifty percent. In that time the planet has warmed 1.2 degrees C.   33. In a natural world Milankovitch Cycles cause warming which releases CO2 which reinforces warming until a new equilibrium is reached. That's the reason for the lag. Humans have done away with the middleman of Milankovitch Cycles and increased CO2.
