@DadSavesAmerica Floods and droughts are increasing due to Climate Change. Rodell - Changing Intensity of Hydroclimatic Extreme Events - Nature Journal.

@DadSavesAmerica The hole in the Ozone layer has stabilised because the Montreal Protocol banning CFCs which caused it has worked.
9
@DadSavesAmerica The repeated bleaching events are damaging the biodiversity of the Great Barrier Reef. Dietzel - Long-term Shifts - Royal Society B. Richards - Lizard Island - Coral Reefs. There just been the most extreme bleaching event on record. That six in the last nine years.

@DadSavesAmerica I'm going to work through your claims as they come up. In the 70s most Climatologists were predicting warming. Peterson - The myth of the 70s cooling consensus - Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. Don't get your science from Spock.
7
@DadSavesAmerica Increasing CO2 is causing crops to lose nutrients. Gojon - The decline in plant mineralnutrition - Trends in Plant Science.
7
@DadSavesAmerica Your interpretation of the Shared Socio-economic Pathways is outrageous. I assume you deliberately ignored the catastrophic warming inherent you chosen pathway..
7
@DadSavesAmerica Real scientists are deeply concerned. Ripple - World Scientists' Warning of a Climate Emergency 2022 - Bioscience.
6
@DadSavesAmerica CO2 is increasing at about 3 ppm a year.
5
@DadSavesAmerica Climate models are quite accurate. Hausfather - Climate models - Geophysical Research Letters.
5
@PhilJonesIII Not if you read scientific papers. Peterson - The myth of the 70s cooling consensus - Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. A few, and even they said it wouldn't be for centuries. Most Climatologists were predicting warming.
4
Yes there is. Ripple - World Scientists' Warning of a Climate Emergency 2022 - Bioscience.
4
Acid rain was ameliorated by installing scrubbers that removed the Nitrogen and Sulphur Oxides that caused it.

@DadSavesAmerica Everything. And some downright wrong. Look back to earlier comments. I've explained.

What he doesn't mention is the drop in area burnt is because Africans have stopped using fire stick farming.
2
@scillyautomatic Why would anyone listen to an American politician? Even Al Gore's film had egregious errors. Nevertheless there's a Climate emergency. Ripple - World Scientists' Warning of a Climate Emergency 2022 - Bioscience.
2
@scillyautomatic Most Climatologists were predicting warming in the 70s. Peterson - The myth of the 70s cooling consensus - Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. It was mostly an American thing because of an article in Newsweek and the documentary hosted by Leonard Nimoy.

@Tenebarum Hurricanes are getting stronger due to Climate Change. Emanuel - Hurricanes - PNAS. Sea level rise is accelerating due to Climate Change. Nerem - Sea level rise - PNAS. Dangendorf - Persistent Acceleration - Nature Journal.

@DadSavesAmerica Extreme weather events are increasing. Floods and droughts are increasing. Rodell - Changing Intensity of Hydroclimatic Extreme Events - Nature Journal. Hurricanes are getting stronger. Emanuel - Hurricanes - PNAS. Heatwaves are becoming more common due to Climate Change. Perkins-Kirkpatrick - Heatwaves - Nature Journal. Fire seasons are getting longer, hotter, and dryer due to Climate Change. Jones - Fire under Climate Change - Reviews of Geophysics. Your claim about the area burnt is misleading because the decrease is because African people no longer burn off large areas as they have previously.

@andrewcrook2240 Unknown Pascal didn't say he was afraid or anxious. He said that the fossil fuel companies knew what would happen, that's why they hid the projections of their scientists. Supran - Assessing ExxonMobil's Global Warming Projections - Science.

@Tenebarum Capitalists? Who would have thought?

@DadSavesAmerica I assume you're referring to Milankovitch Cycles. According to Milankovitch Cycles the planet should be slightly cooling and heading into another glaciation. Earth was slightly cooling for six thousand years until the beginning of the Industrial Era when it began rapidly warming. Kaufman - Holocene Global Mean Surface Temperature - Scientific Data. CO2 levels have gone from 280 ppm to 420 ppm in the Industrial Era due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions. That's an increase of fifty percent. In that time the planet has warmed 1.2 degrees C. It appears that Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity, the amount of warming on doubling of CO2, is somewhere in the region of 3.2 degrees C. Sherwood - Earth's Climate Sensitivity - Reviews of Geophysics. At current levels of CO2 emissions we will double CO2 levels by about 2060. We cannot afford to do that. There is a Climate emergency. Ripple - World Scientists' Warning of a Climate Emergency 2022 - Bioscience. Reading the Ripple study is a wee bit scary. I highly recommend you do read it. Cheers from Australia.

In a natural world Milankovitch Cycles cause warming which releases CO2 which reinforces warming until a new equilibrium is reached. That's the reason for the lag. Humans have done away with the middleman of Milankovitch Cycles and increased CO2.

@albin4323 The water vapour the Tongan volcano injected into the stratosphere will precipitate in a year or two. Although there appears to be still CFCs coming from China.

@DadSavesAmerica Alex Epstein and Michael Shellenberger are not reliable sources. Here's an article about Shellenberger's failings. Gleick - Shellenberger - Yale Climate Connections.

@DadSavesAmerica Debate works by debating. You seem to be avoiding doing that.
1
@invadingomen6826 And global glacier mass loss is accelerating. Hugonnet - Accelerated Global Glacier Mass Loss - Nature Journal.

@DadSavesAmerica Repeated reference to scientists is not an appeal to authority. There's a Climate emergency. Ripple - World Scientists' Warning of a Climate Emergency 2022 - Bioscience. Could you please read that study.
