How does it feel being from a country that is so widely despised? Are you enjoying being known as a terrorist state, a country whose troops have kidnapped, raped, tortured, maimed and murdered innocent people, and a country that has targeted hospitals, schools, playgrounds, restaurants, residential areas, railroad stations, shopping malls, humanitarian centers, churches, etc. Russia’s worse than ISIS and Al Qaeda, and yet you’re here defending it.   15. I just wish that Ukraine had more time before winter sets in for Ukraine to be able to continue its counteroffensive. It seems as of recently that it’s made a lot of progress. The winter break will allow Russia to mobilize more troops. Fingers crossed 🤞 that the winter comes later than usual, and that it’s not very long.

I used to negotiate contracts and I can tell you that there were probably many drafts discussed before the final version was signed. The Memorandum was signed just three years after the collapse of the USSR. Ukraine and Russia were still closely aligned, and at that time there was no way to predict what would happen ten years later. If anything, the memorandum was an assurance from the UK and US that neither would attack Ukraine. Facts are that both the US and UK abided by its terms, and its only Russia that violated its conditions.

Russia lied about it, saying that it was just locals, and then Putin only admitted the truth that “the little green men” were Russian soldiers all along after Russia held an illegal referendum. Ukraine didn’t do anything wrong, and it certainly didn’t take advantage of Russia. Russia gave Crimea as a gift to Ukraine, and then only took it back after it saw the writing on the wall that Ukraine wanted to be aligned with the west. The referendum itself was not only fixed, but it was illegal as it would have required the entire nation’s vote pursuant to the Ukrainian Constitution. International law Crimea is recognized as Ukraine’s and not Russia’s. Russia’s been the country that has lied and committed illegal acts. Crimea is Ukraine’s, and Russia is just a thug that took it because it couldn’t act Ukraine wanting to side with the west.

The memorandum prohibited the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, "except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations." The only country that violated its terms is Russia. It would make no sense for the US or UK at that time to guarantee and provide security for Ukraine. The memorandum was signed in 1994 when Ukraine and Russia were still allies. No way in hell would the US and UK agree to make these kinds of assurances. Besides, I also have read that Ukraine didn’t have the launch codes to the nukes so they were essentially useless.

If Ukraine wasn’t successful in recapturing its territory, the west didn’t want to fund an unending war where no territory is gained, which only results in more deaths. Ukraine needs to set up multi-layered defensive lines to try to stop Russian advances. Too bad Zelensky didn’t do this from the start.   84. The US stockpile isn’t that large. I believe it’s a little over 3,000 of them. The US would like to save these in case it goes to war against China. The US knows that it won’t get the help from the EU countries that are helping Ukraine fight Russia so it needs to maintain a healthy number until the Precision Strike Missiles arrives in large numbers. And it was only around a year ago Lockheed Martin and the US Army entered into a contract to build a little over 50 Precision Strike Missiles, the replacement for ATACMS, and the last of that order won’t be delivered until two years from now. They haven’t even gone into full rate production. They want to make sure it works as desired before going into mass production. Ukraine needs to just stop griping all the time thinking that it’s got an open checkbook to whatever it wants. It has Storm Shadow from the UK and SCALP from the French, which are incredible weapon systems.

  221. LOL, countries are providing aid to Ukraine, but they’re not providing troops. Russia’s lost over 50% of the territory it once held, and that’s against primarily old Soviet era equipment. Imagine how poorly Russia would do if it actually went up against a modern military force.

They’ve attacked schools, playgrounds, hospitals, railway stations, shopping malls, residential areas, etc.,They’ve committed horrific atrocities, including raping, looting, maiming, torturing and murdering innocent people. I’m going to be hated for this comment, but if Russia is willing to let Ukraine Russia join NATO, and with the condition that it keeps the territory it currently holds, that’s something to strongly consider. The front lines have remained relatively stagnant for the last year, and Ukraine’s largest supplier of weapons (the U.S.) is on the verge of not providing weapons anymore, it will be extremely difficult for Ukraine to take back any more land. It sickens me that my country, the US, has failed to further help Ukraine, but no matter how often I write to my congressmen the level of support isn’t going to change if Trump is re-elected. I fully support Ukraine, but there’s been a tremendous loss of life, and the land is heavily mined and defended, that recovering the land from Russia is far from being easy. It will just result in many more hundreds of thousands of deaths. Joining NATO is what Ukraine needs, and Russia’s not that stupid to take on all of NATO.
