It’s a great idea. Missiles are getting even more accurate, and with the size of the B-21 it could easily carry a number of modified SM-6s, the RIM-174.

@ The US actually made a hypersonic missile in the 1950s called the GAM-87 Skybolt, and over a decade ago it flew the X-51 Waverider that broke the world record for hypersonic duration of flight. There’s a video of it here on YouTube. Russia copied its design to make the Zircon, which the Patriot has intercepted in Ukraine. Russia claims to have hypersonic missiles, but in reality they don’t meet the true definition, which is to be able to fly over Mach 5, and to be maneuverable. Russia’s missiles aren’t maneuverable, which makes their flight paths predictable, which in turn makes them more easy to intercept. Right now the U.S. has various hypersonic missiles undergoing testing. It’s not a rush because as you have seen in Ukraine Russia is already having difficulty intercepting even subsonic missiles. A good example is the Moskva, which was sunk by two subsonic missiles, and its specialty was supposed to be air defense.

@ Defense Express, March 28, 2024: Two 3М22 Zircon at once were intercepted on March 25, 2024, during another attempt to strike Kyiv, and their remnants revealed an extremely important detail. Turns out, Zircon really has a supersonic combustion ramjet engine that provides a stable speed of Mach 5.5 during the midcourse of flight, proving in practice that it indeed can overcome the hypersonic speed barrier starting at Mach 5.
