@jcspoon573 I mean like Korea, the first war with Iraq, WWI, WWII, Vietnam. I didn’t expect you to go back to the origins of the USA, where practically all countries have one way or another acquired territory. The world is a much more civilized today where you don’t see nations attacking other nations for the purposes of conquering territory, unless you’re Russia of course.

@jcspoon573 You asked for examples of when the USA went to war for defensive purposes, and that’s why I brought up WWI. The USA first declared it was neutral, but Germany’s subs sinking merchant ships quickly changed that. Germany’s sinking of the Lusitania drew the USA into the war, which was a defensive measure to protect oceangoing vessels. I get your point, and I know very well about Israel’s expansionism, especially into Golan Heights. I don’t agree with it, and I think the USA should withhold aid to Israel if it continues these wrongful practices. What is happening in Ukraine is absolutely abhorrent. It’s based entirely on lies. The brutality of the war, including targeting civilians is something out of yesteryear.

@jcspoon573 So according to your logic just because the USA attacked countries unprovoked many decades ago, and something that was quite common back then, that Russia has the right to do it today. Based on your logic, just because it’s been done by someone else that makes it okay to continue the practice. I guess according to you that since Stalin killed millions of his own people that the US should have that right. You don’t believe that people and countries have learned over the years and have become more civilized? The fact that Russia has made up one lie after another for its invasion is telling. You don’t need to lie if you’re in the right.

@jmwild1 Actually defeating Saddam’s forces was over, but the US stayed to try to implement a new government. The US had no exit strategy, which is not a good idea when going to war.

Is that why NATO has not only expanded, but each nation has increased their military budgets. NATO is stronger now than ever before. The only one failing is Russia. It’s lost world respect, and it’s got very few allies. The allies it has, like North Korea and Iran, are not countries to be bragging about.

@jcspoon573 Did I not say that the USA should not provide aid to Israel when it continues its expansionistic ways? You asked for clarification of the word “usually” did you not? WTF else am I supposed to do other than provide examples? So you think I did a poor job of explaining that the USA’s wars were often for defensive purposes, and yet they’re some of the biggest wars that the USA has been involved in? If it wasn’t for the US, you know very well that nations like Kuwait and South Korea wouldn’t exist, that there’s a good chance that China would have invaded Taiwan by now, and Australia probably would have been invaded by Japan in WWII, right? I bet you didn’t agree with the USA going into Somalia either. Tell me, do you think Russia is in the right by attacking Ukraine? So far the only thing you’ve done is throw out childish insults.

@jcspoon573 Nah, it’s obvious that you think too much of yourself, and that you revert to criticizing others who don’t agree with you. Japan’s possible invasion of Australia is debatable. I’ve read opinions from both sides. The US originally went into Somalia as a humanitarian mission to provide clean water and food. Do you have a problem with that? And since in your opinion Kuwait should not exist that it was okay for Iraq to invade it? There was a unified front that opposed Iraq’s invasion, and it had UN approval. Who knows what China would have done in the past before Taiwan became a semiconductor powerhouse. I am glad to see that we agree on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Do you oppose the aid that the USA is providing Ukraine to help defend itself and to help rebuild the nation?

What’s your point? That was obvious in regards to the Vietnam war, which is entirely different than supporting Ukraine defending itself from Russian aggression.

@franksu3420 Ukraine is not a civil war. It’s a war started and supported by Russia. Russia’s the aggressor. Why can’t Ukraine determine its own fate without Russian interference? Ukraine wants to align itself with the west by joining the EU. You can’t blame the Ukrainians as the standard of living in EU states is much better than in Russia. In hindsight the US probably should not have gotten involved in Vietnam. It was trying to stop the spreading of communism.

So based on your logic Zelensky should just let Putin have the territory he wants and reward him for the horrible crimes that Russian troops have committed. It’s Russia that started this war, a war base yon nothing but lies. And Russia’s sending its troops through the meat grinder. Russian troops have even been quoted as saying that they know they’re nothing more than cannon fodder.

Russia started the war, nobody else. It’s so typical for Russia to blame the United States. According to Russia, everything is the US’s fault. No joke, Russia’s blamed for earthquakes, bad weather, illnesses (including Covid), Russian failed satellite launches, Russia’s drug problems, etc. You’re a nation afraid to take responsibility for your own actions. It’s pitiful.

Most of the aid that the US has provided is equipment that is just sitting unused in stockpiles. Including it, the figure is only 75 billion.

@jcspoon573 I see, you’re one of those who blames everything on the USA. You do realize that the USA wasn’t even a world power in WWI, and it considered the war to be Europe’s war. The USA was very isolationist at that time, and it didn’t want to get involved. What about the South China Sea? Do you think that China should just claim rights to the territory and infringe on other nation’s territorial rights? And what’s your point about the border between India and China? India and China and Pakistan need to resolve their own territorial disputes. I agree that sometimes the USA should mind its own business. What kind of evidence do you need that Sadam invaded Kuwait? You don’t think that his forces should have been kicked out? And what about Israel? You’re being very vague.

@jcspoon573 The USA admitted that it didn’t find WMDs, did it not? What do you think the USA had a crystal ball to know for certain? You know very well that a nation like Russia would have planted evidence instead of telling the truth. And there were many reasons to believe Sadam still had WMDs. After all, he had used them on the Kurds in the north, and they weren’t all accounted for by UN inspections. Sadam also denied UN inspectors access to all sites suspected of having them, and after he was captured he admitted that he tried to deceive the world. It wasn’t because of the USA that he feared, as he never thought the US would actually attack, but because of Iran. People from Iraq also lied to the US and UK about Sadam having WMDS. They wanted him overthrown. And finally, US Army disposal experts who returned from Iraq came down with illnesses from exposure to chemical weapons. You don’t think that the USA has become more civilized? I guess you haven’t noticed that the warheads that it’s using are getting smaller and more accurate in order to avoid civilian deaths. In some cases there is no warhead, like the Ninja Hellfire missile that has just a spinning blade. There are call off switches to cancel certain munitions like the Switchblade. And the USA leads the world when it comes to aid, humanitarian relief, assistance, etc. Do you think it was uncivilized for the US to provide Covid vaccines worldwide? I think you’re just a US hater.

@SkyDragan00 Do you even know why the USA went into Afghanistan in the first place? Put it this way, it achieved its primary objective. Nobody expected the US to keep its troops there forever, and twenty years was already much longer than anyone expected.
