Despite the fact that the US won the TET Offensive, the US public was infuriated because the North was able to pull off a surprise attack in the heart of South Korea. The US did win the majority of the battles, but it was an unpopular war that people resented. At that time the draft was still in force, and it resulted in people sending off their loved ones to a war that they didn’t support. The North Vietnamese only took control after the US troops had left. What is so ironic is that Vietnam and the US are becoming better friends, while it and China are going the other direction and are having disputes about territorial waters. Seems that China is pissing off almost all of its neighbors.

  3. Richard Moloney And it’s good at saving quite a few too. Kuwait, South Korea wouldn’t be around, and there’s a good chance Taiwan would not be either. Who knows what the USSR would have done w/o the US in their way, and even today how far Russia would have gone with Ukraine if the US didn’t provide its support. Who knows how far ASSad would have gone with his chemical weapons. In WWII Japan was conquering one Island after another and was heading for Australia. Who knows if Japan would have taken the territory if the US did not help, The same goes for China. Japan was routinely bombing China, and only after YS pilots volunteered to go there to fight off the Japanese did the conflict turn around. You also tend to forget that the US is the world’s largest provider of aid, relief and donations. I am not just talking about the government, but its people too.

  5. powe300 Exactly! What the US did in such a short time Iran couldn’t do after 10 years. The Taliban were also removed from power after just a few weeks, and it was done with several hundred spec ops troops. There are many other cases, but these anti-US nut jobs intentionally want to be ignorant, which by their choice results their being stupid as well.

  7. Richard Moloney And China lost approximately 30k troops in just one month to Vietnam. Vietnam today is more closely allied with the US then China. China has very few friends and it’s easy to see why .

It’s clear your sole objective is to bash the US, even if it means lying or exaggerating the truth. My main point is before being so judgmental, look into the circumstances and don’t forget that all countries have their own demons.
