  1. Saying that the US and the UK were guarantors of Ukraine’s borders is a bit misleading. Each country of the Budapest Memorandum agreed to respect Ukraine’s territorial borders. There was no obligation of the US or UK to guarantee Ukraine’s borders, including by providing any protection for it.
