I’ll tell you a stupid rule. The Ukrainians can’t use the F-16s inside of Russia, even though attacks from Russia are arising from there. This condition of use should be removed. The condition should be that the F-16s can be used inside of Russia as long as its military targets being attacked. If that doesn’t work for the US, then if there’s any planned attack inside of Russia with F-16’s, then the US needs to review those plans first. But to say that they can’t be used at all inside Russia is ridiculous.

@virginccyy7645 Please do research before commenting. You’re the one who is wrong. The US is permitting Ukraine’s use of the F-16s, as long as they don’t attack targets inside Russia. The same goes with any weapon provided by the west. It’s why Ukraine uses its in-house drones to attack Russian refineries.

@Texas240 Russia’s air defenses have been anything but impressive. They have failed numerous times to defend strategic targets, i.e. bridges, command centers, ammo dumps, air fields, barracks, etc. And Ukraine has already penetrated Russian airspace numerous times with its drones that have gone untouched to strike strategic oil refineries. Ukraine’s helicopters have also attacked inside of Russia. With weapons like Storm Shadow, Scalp, JDAMS, etc., Ukraine could very well attack targets inside of Russia if it wanted to.

@Texas240 Ukraine has already had its helicopters fly into Russian territory. Ukraine hasn’t been permitted to use western weapons inside of Russia, and only shorter range versions have been provided by western countries. F-16s could very easily strike targets inside of Russia if Ukraine was given the proper weapons.

@Texas240 That’s where ECM and decoys like MALD can be used. Anti-radiation missiles like HARM have also been effective. I’m sure if they can figure out having the Mig-29 carry various types ordnance they can figure out the same with the F-16.

@Texas240 You’ve already seen both HARM missiles strike radars deep inside Crimea, and MALD has been used effectively against Russian SAMs in Crimea too. And like I said, I’m sure they can figure out how to modify the kit on the F-16 to carry the Storm Shadow. If they can figure out how to modify a Soviet era Mig-29 and Su-27 to carry the Storm Shadow, MALD, HARM, then they sure can modify the F-16 to carry a fellow NATO member’s Storm Shadow. Be sensible. Think about how in Iraq the U.S. used even Apaches to take out Iraqi air defenses. It also used the TALD to oversaturate Iraq’s defenses making it difficult for them to distinguish fighters from decoys. ECM can both jam and spoof enemy radars. I’m not saying it would be easy, but it can be done, especially with Russia being so low on A-50s. Also old time stealth of flying low could also be effective. That’s how the helicopters got through. And you do realize that the F-16 has very effectively performed the Wild Weasel role, don’t you? Are you saying that striking targets inside Russia doesn’t serve any useful purpose? First off it would hit the gut of the Russian people. Don’t you remember the Doolittle Raid in WWII? That strike was nothing but about sending a message. Secondly, ammo dumps, railway stations, command centers, etc., would all be targets that would be of a great benefit destroyed. Perhaps it’s your ego that is getting in the way of thinking rationally.
