Why isn’t France donating the artillery shells instead of Germany having to buy them from the French? France has really dragged its feet helping the Ukrainians.

@iainhunneybell No shit. My question is why the French government isn’t paying for the rounds instead of Germany. We all know that companies themselves don’t make these kinds of decisions. And, I’m not saying that at all. France has provided hardly any help to Ukraine. For the size of its military and economy it should be contributing a lot more. Its government should pay for those rounds to be sent to Ukraine, not Germany. Germany has really stepped up, France hasn’t. And no, it wouldn’t be any different if the order went to the USA instead of France.

@iainhunneybell Man, you’re just not getting it, and you’re making this much more of an issue than it needs to be. My whole complaint is that France should be contributing more. It’s got nothing to do with matching contributions. France should be doing what the US is doing. The US is buying artillery orders from not only US firms, but from companies in South Korea, and then is giving the artillery to Ukraine. Germany has already been doing a lot.

@iainhunneybell It’s not different issues. It’s just like the US buying its own country’s ammo produced for the purpose of donating it to Ukraine. France could have easily done the same.
