Thank you Professor Gerdes for your explaining the complete different mindset between Reagan Conservatives and MAGA Republicans. We’ve got very similar points of view. I am just thankful that there are people like you who can express in words so eloquently the differences between the two. I struggle and fumble with words. Thanks again for all your videos.

@psychohist So you’re saying that he doesn’t know his own political beliefs and that he’s not a Reagan conservative, even though he’s stated it numerous times. He knows what he’s talking about. I have similar political views as him, and I am as well a Reagan Conservative.

Here’s a common description of a Reagan Republican that fits my political views precisely: Reagan Republicans usually advocate for lower taxes, smaller government, more limited government regulations, and a strong national defense. They also support a free-market economy, protecting individual rights, and a strict interpretation of the Constitution. Reagan Republicans often take a hard line on social issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, and drug use. You don’t know us so stop acting as though you know our beliefs. Your arrogance is appalling. Unbelievable.

@psychohist It’s not necessary to have voted for him to have similar views. His policies are well known and documented. He believed in smaller taxes, smaller government, fewer regulations, strong national defense, against abortion, against same sex marriage and drug use. He believed in a free-market economy, and protection of individual rights. Professor Gerdes is obviously a very intelligent person. You’re saying that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about is extremely short sighted considering that you don’t even know him.

@psychohist Here’s a famous quote of Reagan, “I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion is already born.” He was opposed to abortion, except in the case of rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is in jeopardy. Professor Gerdes is Christian so I’m pretty sure this view follows his beliefs. I don’t believe anyone supports running mass deficits. In fact, Reagan himself described the deficit increase as the greatest disappointment of his presidency. Based on your strict criteria nobody should be considered a Reagan conservative. Professor Gerdes obviously knows what he’s talking about, and you’re accusing him that he does not know what it means is absolutely asinine. You’re extremely pompous acting as though you are more knowledgeable than others who you’ve never met. I am done arguing with you. You’ve already wasted too much of my time.

Based on your idiotic beliefs, only people who have voted and/or worked under the Reagan administration can be Reagan Conservatives. There wouldn’t even be a Reagan Conservative categorization if being one fell under your tight ridiculous guidelines. Don’t bother replying. I’m going to believe Professor Gerdes about what he believes his political views are versus your opinion, when you don’t even know him.
