@Forrest666 The US encouraged decommissioning of the nukes because it didnât want them to fall into terrorists hands. In fact, the US helped Russia dispose of many of its nukes after the collapse of the USSR.

Ukraine didnât âgive awayâ nukes. They never had control over them in the first place.

@Forrest666 Do some research and youâll agree.

@Forrest666 Nuclear Threat Initiative- Upon Ukraineâs 1991 independence, over 1,700 Soviet nuclear weapons were left on its territory. Ukraine never possessed operational control of the weapons, and all were removed to Russia under a 1994 agreement in exchange for security assurances.

ALSO ICAN - Ukraine never had an independent nuclear weapons arsenal, or control over these weapons, but agreed to remove former Soviet weapons stationed on its territory.

@Forrest666 They were on Ukraineâs territory, but the Russians had control over them. In fact, Ukraine didnât even have the nuclear access codes.

@Forrest666 Do some research and youâll find that Ukraine didnât even want them. They didnât have the funds or resources to properly maintain them. Some Ukrainian politicians even feared of another Chernobyl disaster happening.

@Forrest666 Thatâs nonsense. Russia didnât trust Ukraine with possession of its nuclear weapons. Youâre just saying your personal opinion. The Russians werenât about to let the Ukrainians possess such a powerful weapon. Again, do some research! The facts donât support your opinion.

@Forrest666 Do some research. Not only did the Russians control the nukes, but Ukraine didnât even want them. They didnât have the funding or the resources to properly maintain them.

@Forrest666 Says who? Youâre just spouting your personal opinion. Like I said, do some research. Russia did not trust the Ukrainians to have such weapons in their possession. Russia didnât let anyone other than themselves have control of the nukes.

@Forrest666 Your background doesnât make you knowledgeable about you know anything about Ukraineâs access to Russian nuclear weapons. Use Google and youâll find what Iâm talking about.
