@boamare3367 All countries have their problems. The US right now has a huge homeless population, which is only getting worse because millions of people are crossing our southern borders illegally. I live in Southern California, and I see the problem daily. It’s not the US’s job to protect Europe. You’ve had your problems, but it doesn’t excuse your military budgets being less than 2% of your GNP for decades. The US military budget is at 3.5% in comparison, and unless I am mistaken only Poland as of recent has passed that percentage. Europe needs to pay more to protect itself, and to stop depending on the US. Tell me, is Europe helping Israel? No. Is Europe going to go to war against China if it attacks Taiwan? No. If North Korea attacks South Korea, can we count on the EU countries to help? No. And you do realize that ISIS is a worldwide problem, no just a U.S. one. And you do realize that other than the UK, Europe only helped in Iraq for the first war, which was approved by the UN. You’re the one oversimplifying matters.
Europe needs to quit depending on the US for its protection. Your self entitlement to our property is not right. I support helping Ukraine, but you Europeans thinking that the US should just give away its property is asinine. I didn’t work 60-80 hours a week for over thirty years giving hundreds of thousands of my tax dollars to be given away. If Trump is elected you’re not going to have a choice but to help Ukraine on your own. Like I said, I support helping Ukraine for moral reasons, but I don’t appreciate when people expect it or criticize the US when it’s got no legal obligation to provide it. Rather than thank the US, all I see is from Europe is complaining that it took too long and that the US is expected to keep providing more.

To an extent you’re right. The Patriot missiles, javelins, artillery shells, HIMARS, bullets, etc., are new. Yes, it benefits the US defense industry, but we’re expending funds to areas where we’d usually be spending elsewhere. And sorry, but giving away your property to others is not a good financial investment. If it was so beneficial, other countries would be doing it a lot more frequently.
