  2.  @RockyB2b  The US would annihilate Russia with no problem. Look at how badly Russia is performing in Ukraine, and the US has only provided a smaller fraction of its arsenal. Just as an example, the US has provided less than 20 HIMARS/MLRS to Ukraine, while it has around 1,500 in its inventory. The US Air Force and navy would decimate Russia. It wouldn’t be a contest. Dream all you want, but it doesn’t change reality.

Why would Ukraine want to continue being aligned with Russia that has much lower living standards? Why would Ukraine want to have a government like Russia’s where you’re constantly lied to and have limited freedom? It’s Ukraine’s choice if it wants to be part of the EU and NATO, not Russia’s. Imagine if Ukraine told Russia that it couldn’t join any alliances with China. Russia would tell it to fuq off.

Countries are more civilized, unless you’re Russia. Furthermore, just because the US did it that doesn’t make it right for Russia to do it. It’s a sign of weakness that Russia is losing and it can’t win with conventional arms. That’s pathetic, and so are you for implying that using nukes is okay.

Even if Ukraine has Nazis, it doesn’t give Russia the right to take away land from Ukraine. If the shoes were reversed, Russia would never give away its own land. The fact that Russia lied when it took over Crimea shows what Russia did was wrong. Russia said it was just locals revolting, when in fact they were Russian soldiers who removed their insignia. Putin even admitted later that the “little green men” were Russian troops all along. You don’t need to lie when you’re in the right.

After many decades the US leased based there, only to later have them revoked, which forced the United States to leave. The two countries distanced themselves, until China started claiming the South China Sea was its own, and they had various incursions into Philippine territory. Guess what the Philippines did? That’s right, came to the US for help. Look at South Korea and Kuwait, neither of which would be around without US help. Can you imagine if the US didn’t help Ukraine and Taiwan, and what the situation would be like in those places? No matter what the US does it gets criticized.

  10.  @schokobar4133 You’re not too bright are you? The US was the main fighting force in Korea, and it only lost around 37,000 troops and Vietnam was around 58K. Russia’s lost nearly three times that in Ukraine, and in a much shorter time period. The US never sent its men in meat assaults like what Russia is doing in Ukraine.

Does anyone tell Russia that it must remain neutral? No. Ukraine is just as much of a sovereign country as Russia. Russia has no right to tell it what to do.

  16. It’s Ukraine’s, not Russia’s. The only reason why Russia took the land is because it saw Ukraine siding with the EU, and it couldn’t lose its naval base there. If Russia was in the right about taking it, it wouldn’t have lied that the little green men were Russian troops all along.

  21.  @schokobar4133  Your not including the men from the DNR and LNR, which with along with the Russian troops makes around 300K KIA and an additional one million injured. Russia is losing frequently over 500 men a day. The US never has lost that many men on average in a single day. Russia's men are being treated as cannon fodder. You can see it in videos, and you can hear intercepted calls of Russian soldiers who admit it.

  23.  @alexsilent5603  It didn’t keep its promise to respect Ukraine sovereignty under the Budapest Memorandum. The referendum in Crimea was also illegal. The Ukrainian Constitution requires that the entire nation has to vote on the measure, not just the people of Crimea. Imagine if in the past if Chechnya held a referendum to be independent. Do you think Russia would respect its outcome, if they voted in favor of independence? Of course not. Be sensible.

They didn’t invade another country and hold an election, it was their own territory from the start. What they did was seek independence away from the Russia, and after the collapse of the USSR, Russia wasn’t able to do anything about it. I am happy for them. Imagine if they tried today, and how Putin would react. Just like in Chechnya, he would be ruthless.

People love to gripe about the United States. Tell me, what do you think the situation would be like in the South China Sea or for that matter in Ukraine if the US didn’t provide help? Do you think Kuwait and South Korea would still be nations, or would Taiwan still be under its own control? Friends don’t always act in each other’s interests. Look at how France continued to provide arms to Iraq despite the embargo. France knowingly provided Saddam with arms, and it blocked measures by the US at the UN. Or have you heard about “Affaire Karachi”? where the French made bribes in countries across worldwide on arms sales and top French politicians received kickbacks? All I am saying is that it’s a two way street.

  36.  @Matt-Kin  Quite honestly, it just seems that you have a strong bias against the United States. I am not sure why, but the stuff you mention happens everywhere. For instance, the Chinese are notorious for intellectual property infringement. I can’t tell you how often they’ve taken US technology and ran with it, without getting a license. It’s definitely no right, but it seems that you direct your dislike towards the US.

  37.  @Matt-Kin  He didn’t “work” for the US. It’s just that he was on the opposing side of Iran, who at the time we didn’t get along with at all due to the hostage crisis. Regardless, there was good reasons to believe that Saddam still had WMDs. He had used them before on the Kurds in the north, they weren’t all accounted for by UN inspectors, and he wouldn’t let inspectors access to all the sites. And don’t forget that a number of French companies exported machinery and raw material for the manufacture of chemical weapons to Iraq prior to the Gulf War.

For instance, if the United States was fighting, Russia would have been defeated a long time ago. And how exactly did the US lose in Afghanistan when its primary objectives were met? Do you even know why the US was in Afghanistan in the first place?

  45.  @Matt-Kin  There were many good reasons to believe that Saddam still had WMDs, including the fact that after he was captured that he admitted to trying to deceive the world that Iraq still did. UN inspectors also weren’t permitted to have access to all the suspected sites, not all the WMDs were accounted for, and some US army disposable experts who returned from the war got illnesses from exposure to such weapons. It wasn’t out of fear of the US, which Saddam never thought would actually attack, but because of his fear of Iran. Even before the first Gulf War France was provided equipment to Iraq that was banned. Nuclear turbine technology can’t just be purchased by another nation. I feel like you’re not telling me everything. I used to be an export control officer who dealt with these kinds of matters. It takes many levels of approval to get that kind of authorization. Imagine if Russia purchased Dassault just so that it could have the Rafale. That would never happen.

The Nayirah testimony was false testimony given before the United States Congressional Human Rights Caucus on October 10, 1990, by a 15-year-old girl who was publicly identified at the time by her first name, Nayirah. The testimony was widely publicized, and was cited numerous times by United States senators and President George H. W. Bush in their rationale to support Kuwait in the Gulf War. So based on your rationale the US and it’s allies, including France, shouldn’t have attacked Saddam’s forces and removed them from Kuwait? The US didn’t kill millions. The latest figures are around 250K from all sides in Iraq, the US, insurgents, Iraqi government, etc., and it includes both direct causes of death from the war, as well as indirect deaths (like contaminated water, no power, raw sewage, etc.). And furthermore, the US didn’t carpet bomb civilians either. Stop the lying BS. That’s all you have done. You’re very much biased against the United States. Nearly everything you’ve said is inaccurate and slanted against the US. Seriously, if you’re from France who needs friends like you? I’d rather keep my taxpayer monies here in America and let you deal with the Russians on your own.

  48. It’s good to see that these young Russians aren’t the brain dead zombies who we’ve heard about. The one gently got it right, change needs to come from the top. Hopefully someone close to Putin will realize all the harm he’s causing, and will take care of matters so that Russia can go in the right direction, instead of having so much of the world against it.

I am just like everyone else, a person who makes mistakes, and I will apologize for those times that I do. I can see that we have differing opinions. Crimea is part of Ukraine, not Russia, so of course Ukraine would say it will take it back by any means. The Soviets gave Crimea to Ukraine, and once a gift is given it’s not yours anymore. The fact that Russia lied about not invading Crimea, that it was just the local people, and only admitted the truth after it conducted the illegal referendum, proves in itself that Russia knew what it did was wrong. Putin himself admitted that the “little green men” were Russian soldiers all along. You don’t need to lie when you’re in the right.
