"The objective is to remove hurdles affecting financial transactions through the Russian Agricultural Bank, a major concern expressed by the Russian Federation, and simultaneously allow for the continued flow of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea," U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters. To convince Russia to agree to the Black Sea deal, a three-year memorandum of understanding was struck at the same time under which U.N. officials agreed to help Russia get its food and fertilizer exports to foreign markets. A spokesperson for the Kremlin did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

@malcolmdavid722 As of May 2023, over 30 million tonnes of grain and other foodstuffs have been exported via the Black Sea Grain Initiative. 64% of the wheat exported through the Black Sea Grain Initiative reached developing countries. Maize is exported almost equally to developed and developing countries. The UN World Food Programme (WFP – the largest humanitarian organisation in the world) is also shipping wheat from Black Sea ports. Before the war, the programme bought half of its grain stock from Ukraine. Since the start of the initiative in August 2022 over 655 000 tonnes of wheat have left Ukrainian ports to Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Djibouti. Since being signed in July last year, the U.N. says the Black Sea Grain Initiative has allowed more than 32 million metric tons of food commodities to be exported to 45 countries worldwide.

@kleanthisxanthopoulos4697 Russia decided long ago to not renew the deal. It had nothing to do with the Kerch Bridge. You are lying about poor countries. Under the last grain deal, 64 % of the wheat went to developing countries, and 50 % of the maize. And you are complaining about prizes because of sanctions. Do you know why the sanctions are there in the first place?? I don't hear you complain about the prizes that goes up BECAUSE OF THE WAR. The sanctions are there instead of going to physical war. Would you prefer that instead??

The BBC has talked to farmers and analysed satellite images and shipping data to track where the grain is going. The BBC tried to contact more than 200 farmers whose land is now in Russian-occupied territory. Dmytro - we are not using his real name to protect him from reprisals - was one of the few willing to meet us. "They stole our grain. They destroyed our premises, destroyed our equipment." He says Russian forces now occupy 80% of the tens of thousands of hectares he farms and accuses them of stealing grain on an industrial scale. Grain trucks were stolen and Dmytro says a couple of them had GPS trackers fitted. We were able to use this data to see they had gone south into Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, and then on to Russia.

@dimbwemazala8978 Moskva sank after beeing hit by Neptunes. It wasn't 18 km from the coast as you claim, but 120 km. Therefore they didn't have their anti-aircraft system up and running, they felt safe. And no third party was involved. That's just an excuse because they feel embarrassed by the fact that it was Ukraine that sank it.
