  6. Feb -14 “coup”: It already started in nov -13. The Revolution of Dignity: First there was an attempted coup by the russians. They put pressure on president Yanukovych to not sign an already negotiated political association and free trade deal with EU. When people heard about this scam, they gathered in the streets. Protesters opposed what they saw as widespread government corruption and abuse of power, the influence of Russians and oligarchs, police brutality, and human rights violations. Ressive anti-protest laws fuelled further anger. In January and February 2014 further protests resulted in the government’s resignation. On 21 February, Yanukovych and the parliamentary opposition signed an agreement to bring about an interim unity government, constitutional reforms and early elections. The next day, 22 February, the Ukrainian parliament voted to remove Yanukovych from office by 328 to 0. Russia then occupied and annexed Crimea, with “little green men” (Russian masked soldiers). More “little green men” together with Russian armed pro-Russian separatists seized government buildings and proclaimed the independent states of Donetsk and Luhansk, sparking the Donbas war. The Russian Federation initially denied that these were Russian military forces, but in April 2014 Vladimir Putin finally confirmed the presence of the Russian military. Alexander Borodai, Prime Minister of the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic, stated that 50,000 RUSSIAN citizens fought in the Donbas up to August 2015. THESE SOLDIERS are the ones that the Ukraninan government fought against, NOT “shelling of innocents in Donbass”, which Russian propaganda will tell you.

Crimea’s only three indigenous groups are the Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks (the first being Muslim, the latter two being Jewish groups). Est. That the Krymchaks fled Hadrian’s legions in the second century AD after the Bar Khova uprising. 2. Tatars have been the predominant ethnic group in Crimea for centuries. Katherine the Great lusted after the peninsula in the mid 1800s, thus the Crimean War. 3. Russia lost, and 170 years of persecution of the Tatars began. Stalin ethnically cleansed the Tatars in 1944. Of the 200K that were force-marched to Uzbekistan, half died. 4. 60 years later Putin takes a page from Katherine and Stalin, and illegally grabs Crimea (which Kruschev and the Supreme Soviet legally ceded to Ukraine in ‘54). 5. The persecution of the Tatars continues, as does Russia’s attempt to grab land that has never been “ethnically Russian.” Just because you invade someone’s territory and colonize it does not make it yours.

Russia has no more historic right to Crimea than Ukraine. Besides, Soviet/Russia has replaced a large part of the population. Each controlled Crimea until Crimea became part of independent Ukraine with the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. When the Soviet Union broke up, Ukraine held a significant number of nuclear weapons. In fact, the country had more nuclear warheads than China, the UK and France combined, making it the third-largest nuclear power in the world. Three years later, Ukraine reached an agreement with Russia and the US to hand over its nuclear weapons to be destroyed. In return, Russia promised to forever recognize the independence of the whole of Ukraine, including Crimea.

  11. Simecka is not a fascist. He is the leader of the social-liberal political party in Slovakia. This in stark contrast to a fascist ideology (like for example Putin's Russia). Why use words you don't even know the meaning of??
