@arx3516 It was fucked up since the beginning. In 60s there were just some light of modernisation, but it went out quickly. Even Khruschev was limited by the stupid socialistic ideology in his mind, so he never wanted true reforms. And when Brezhnev came, all went down to stagnation.

@angeloreyes1951 Who created those pseudorepublics in Donbass in 2014 by force? Putin with his "green muzhiks" and later with "army tourists". All leaders were from KGB. So blame Putin for that. Or is Ukraine the country which is not allowed to fight for its own territory?

@shawnwilliam4653 They call him tzar, but its not pure tzar era he wants. He grew up with Stalin's ideology, he was KGB agent, he hates west. So its combination of tzars, Stalin and all the red propaganda he ever heard. Together its even more dangerous then if he just wanted to be new tzar.

@DrCruel First - censorship is about how state control the media / free speech. In private media, its not true censorship, its the policy of the owner. In free country, you can always choose other media or even create your own. Second - not all censorship are made by Left - in fact Russian system is defining itself like patriotic, anti LGBT and so on. Third - Its funny how everytime Russia is discussed someone brings up US theme.

@ForelliBoy So you dont have to care about how bad RuTube or Rossgram and other copies of western media are. Because after some time, creating and publishing video will be banned for private person. All will be under control and censorship of the russian state, like in communist times. Do you remember what was samizdat? It will be back soon.

@DrCruel You really dont know what real censorship and propaganda is. You can write and tell whatever you want and if in one media it gets banned you just simple choose another one. But in Russia all media are controlled by the state and you cant even say that there is war in Ukraine - otherwise you can be sent to jail for 15 years.

@DrCruel No, censorship is defined in the relation between state and people. I think you dont expect that in private right sided newsletter you would see communist manifest - thats the right of the owner to choose what to publish. Only problem with some social networks is that they grow so big, that you dont see the owners and you think they should act as state owned - so without censorship. But this can be done only by antimonopoly laws, which often are considered as laws against the free market. Second - its just your view in US. In Europe we know that there are many worst regimes than that you call Left. Real communists, real fascists or tzar regime were much worst than you think. So its quite strange for me when some people from Right seek the inspiration in Putins regime. Third - "Competitors" - state owned media created to have all in the site under state control are not real competition for free media. You can sometimes use it, because they dont care about you as a foreigner, but in general they are created to do a real censorship and spread propaganda between own people.

@greed864 Many countries have competing platforms. But they are private owned - just another companies in free market. But those russian platforms, even privatly owned before are now promoted by the state (and under state controll) and other platforms are banned. So there will be no competition (like it was in USSR), so also no need to improve anything.

@greed864 Western social networks are now banned, so there will be no real competition in Russia. You will get only state allowed and controlled networks like in China, nothing more.
