You must understand that this is the condition of britain in 19th century or any nation at the start of industrial revolution eventhough this happen, it will certainly be better for us. We are reliant on western technologies however not too much on ideas. This was the same how western adapted technology mainly from iran and asia before colonialization. @Humanity Galatica wtf was that? Chinese economy and the quality of life under mao was a serious joke. That famine could have been avoided had mao just admit that his plan was not going to work. In case of millitary, modern chinese is better in any metric. Today the only reason why china can influence other nation and become hegemon was due to their economic powerhouse, securing various trade without any guns involved.

@Humanity Galatica wtf? Maoist doctrine emphasize on millitarism. This was why china was very millitaristic at that time being while also economically behind. China today relied more economically. Furthermore, maoism revolves around mao's thinking which actually killed even more than genghis khan because of his poor decisions.
